Draft beer is love. No beer in the cans can replace the taste that a true craft beer that comes out of the tap can provide. And growlers are the best discovery to help carry this ambrosia with us. Whether you are on a hike, or going for camping or out on beach, stainless steel growlers can help you take the draft beer with you. But there is a problem. Likely every shopping decision, it is difficult to find the right growler for you.
Today, we introduce and review Yukon Growlers’ Premium Insulated Stainless Steel Growler . For the review purposes, we bought the Yukon Growlers’ flip-top version of growlers from Amazon and used it for 15 days. During these 15 days, I have used it on a beach day and a short hike to the country. Based on our usage, we are presenting our thoughts on Yukon Growlers’ flip-top insulated stainless steel growler.
Yukon Growlers swing-top growler is decent to keep the beer cold enough for more than 24 hours. Since it is a double walled insulated growler, my beer tasted good and was cold for a longer period of time.
During the sunny beech day, the growler kept the beer cold until evening without any issues. It felt like drinking fresh from the tap. The hike day where I camped overnight was also good enough. The beer stayed cold until late in the night. The beer didn’t feel so fresh in the next day though. So, based on our experience, Yukon growlers’ flip-top growler can keep the beer cold for around 24 hours. Using it for a longer period is not recommended.
The lid-lock strap around the swing-top lid ensures that the carbonation is kept intact. I didn’t feel any difference in the taste even though this is a swing-top lid. I would rate Yukon Growler a 8 on utility.
The stainless steel body makes the Yukon growler easy to carry. Though its shape doesn’t make it easy, Yukon provides with great felt-case to carry this around. Also, most of the swing-top lids have a problem of popping open when bumped. As this Yukon Growler features Lid-lock strap, it reduces chances of popping open. In my 15 days of usage, the flip-top never opened. My feeling is that they have found the permanent solution to the popping open of swing-top lids.
The biggest reason why anyone should prefer swing-top Yukon growler over any of the bottle shaped growler (Yukon also has bottle shaped growler) is that it comes with a handle. Since, 64 oz is going to be heavy, the handle on Yukon growler and its well designed tapered neck would make it convenient when pouring. The other shapes are harder to pour from. I rate Yukon flip-top growler a 9 on usability.
The Yukon growler doesn’t come with too many bells and whistles. It is a standard stainless steel growler. Its minimalistic look and utility oriented design makes it not grab any attention. At the bottom of each growler, the standard govt. warning is engraved ensuring that it is usable by people in any state. It comes in two colors – black and stainless. I prefer the black color as it looks much more finished. I rate it a 8 on looks.
Price / Affordability
Well not much to say here. This growler is priced at around 42 USD and the combo pack of felt bag and the growler is priced at around 65 USD. Prices may vary based on your time of purchase. I rate it a 8 on price.
If you are looking for a stainless steel growler that is portable and easy to carry around – Yukon Growlers’ flip-top growler is the best insulated growler around. I would say a definite Yay to this product.
